Allied Churches Needs Canned Food for Giving Tree

Canned foods are needed to create a Community Sharing Christmas Tree to benefit Allied Churches of Alamance County’s Food Pantry.

“The need is great and downtown merchants would like to get behind this effort,” said Mary Faucette, Burlington Recreation & Parks Department’s special events supervisor.

Faucette said the organizers of Dec. 13’s Holiday Magic, A Dickens Christmas hope to create “an 8-foot-tall tree with several smaller trees that we will light up at 7:30 p.m. that night.”

Canned food collection sites include the Company Shops Market, Bella’s House, The Glass Angel, Wayne’s Attic, Main & Fifth, May Memorial Library, Moorefield Florist, Mary Katherine’s, Treasure House, BJ’s Gifts & Jewelry, Sara-Anne Photography, Danny’s Café, Boston Sandwich Shop, Mosca’s restaurant and the Burlington Recreation & Parks Department.

For more information on the sharing tree, call (336) 513-5469 or visit www.BurlingtonNC.gov/recreation.
