United Way of Alamance County, RHA Behavioral Health and ACAC Partner for Mental Health Services

Meet Chenetta Clarke, Outpatient Counselor

Access to mental health services such as counseling, referrals, and sustained care is vital for many of the at-risk population in Alamance County. Now, thanks to funding through the United Way of Alamance County and a partnership with RHA Behavioral Health,  ACAC is able to offer those services in-house.

Homelessness is a traumatic experience. People experiencing homelessness are under constant stress, unsure of whether they will be able to sleep in a safe environment or obtain a decent meal. According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, the mentally ill homeless population are far less likely to be able to acquire and sustain housing without mental health support. Thus, community partners are vital for help in providing support to the population that ACAC serves.

A licensed Mental Health Professional (MHP) from RHA Behavioral Health will now be available to ACAC shelter residents four days a week. The MHP will meet with residents on a regular basis during their time at the shelter, and will continue to see them at the RHA facility once they have left ACAC.

The continuity of care that ACAC can now provide through this exciting partnership is a welcome addition for those struggling with homelessness in our community.
