Allied Churches/American Red Cross Response to Arctic Weather

Due to the extremely cold weather expected in the area tonight and tomorrow (January 6-7), Allied Churches of Alamance County and the Burlington Chapter of the American Red Cross are partnering to provide temporary shelter for families that do not have adequate sources of heat.  The American Red Cross is providing cots in the Allied Churches’ facility, located at 206 North Fisher Street in Burlington, NC.  The shelter is open to the public at 5:30pm each day for registration with beds assigned at 7:30pm.  Check out will occur at 9:00am Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.  Those needing assistance will need to bring identification and their own sleeping bag and/or blanket as well as their own prescribed medication.  No food will be allowed from the outside as Allied Churches provides onsite food from the community kitchen dinner service.

For more information, please contact the Allied Churches of Alamance County Emergency Shelter (336-229-0881 ext. 108) or the American Red Cross (336-226-4906).
